It is amazing that over a hundred thousand copies of The grapes of Wrath are being sold in the U.S. and its been 50 years since it was written. Its pretty cool that they have translated it into 40 different languages. We are pretty fortunate that we live in a place where so many famous people have visited and maybe have lived here at one point like the Steinbecks. Thats aamazing that he got the nobel peace prize for his writtings. I like how he had a camper. I can relate because i too have a camper. I think living out of a camper is so fun. When you step outside, your yard is the wilderness.

I'm happy that I've been given the opportunity to hear about Steinbeck from someone who was so close to him. I now know more about Steinbeck and his wife Elaine and their life together. I think the most touching part of the interview is when Elaine tells us "..when he was dying he said to me 'what's the best time we ever had together in our marriage'?" and she said " you tell me first" Steinbeck replied "no, you'll just cheat and agree with me" So Elaine writes on a piece of paper the answer to his question, and then asks it again "alright so what's the best time we ever had together" he said "the year in Somerset" and Steinbeck opened his hand to find that Elaine had written the same thing. I don't know if she was making it up or not but that has to be the most adorable thing I've ever heard. I also learned that Steinbeck could write anywhere. I really enjoyed listening to this interview.

I find it pretty interesting that Steinbeck's books are still selling after 50 years. Ecspecially that his book THE GRAPES OF WRATH sold over 1000000 copies. In that book all Steinbeck talked about was "the people". (the country men) It's pretty nice to find out that Steinbeck cared about the country men. I never knew he had a house in Sag Harbor in the '50s. Also, it is really amazing that he recieved a Nobel Peace Prize for his works in literature.

  4. Amazing, right? Can you imagine writing one book that sold that many copies? Why do you think his books are still selling? Aren't they pretty old?

Steinbecks literature is amazing.Still selling books after 50 years. Now that is pretty amazing. I also can't belive that he was just like anyone of us out here and that he live in sag harbor in the 50's. I also think that winning a Nobel Peace Prize for your work in literature is a pretty big accomplishment and you know that you are impacting the world in some way.

Steinbeck's books are outstanding. The Grapes of Wrath is still being talked about even though it was written so long ago. Also books are still being sold that were written by Steinbeck. It was also impressive that at the party of the nobel pize he did not drink since he did not want to represent himself and his country poorly.

Elaine Steinbeck is so hot. Her husband John Steinbeck won the nobel prize for literature. Its amazing that people are still reading his books after so long. So many copies of The Grapes of Wrath have been sold over a hundred thousand, thats incredible. John had 2 kids and was divorced when Elaine met him. It was sad to hear about the story about when he was dying and had to wear the oxygen mask and they were talking about their best time together. I didnt know that John Steinbeck wrote a couple books in long island. Now that Elaine is a widdow i think im gonna make a move :)
